Kristin Tynan

Professional biography

Kristin is a senior clinical pharmacist who has an extensive experience in pain. She graduated with a Bachelor of Pharmacy from University of Queensland 2005 and undertook her pre-registration at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. She also has a Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Hons) from James Cook University and a Master of Science in Medicine (Pain Management) at University of Sydney. Kristin is currently working at both Princess Alexandra Hospital and Metro South Health Persistent Pain Management Service.

Kristin has coordinated the Pharmacology in pain pre-conference workshops for the Australian Pain Society. She is actively involved in pain and opioid education to staff at the PAH, developed discharge pain management brochures for patients and has been an invited speaker at a number of seminars.

Kristin is currently completing a 2024 Bright Sparks Capacity Building grant.

 

Research Expertise

Honours project: “Assessment of mammalian tissue injury metabolism associated with freshwater cyanobacteria toxicity.”

Several clinical Quality use of medicines audits conducted at PAH Topics include, opioid prescribing trends, analgesia in hepatic patients opioid stewardship, gabapentinoid prescribing, methadone in persistent pain and surgery cancellations due to medication errors.
