Kylie Burns

Dr Kylie Burns is a senior lecturer in the Griffith Law School and the program leader of the the Lawyering, Legal Education and Law’s Future program of the Law’s Future Centre. Prior to her career as an academic she was a solicitor in insurance litigation. Kylie is nationally and internationally recognised as a torts and personal injury compensation scholar. She is the co-author of the leading Australian text Torts: Cases and Commentary now in its 8th edition. Her current research projects with the Hopkins Centre focus on the intersection between legal frameworks and systems of personal injury compensation and their impact on injured people, the adequacy of lump sum compensation, the NIIS, and the nature of reasonable and necessary supports in the NDIS. Kylie has a particular interest in policy reform and has led Hopkins submissions to Government on the NDIS, the NIIS and motor vehicle compensation.
