Information for those attending in person

Location:
This year's symposium will be held at the Translational Research Institute, auditorium and atrium. 

The TRI is located in the Princess Alexandra Hospital complex, address: 
37 Kent Street, 
Woolloongabba,
QLD, 4102

Travelling to TRI:
TRI is a car-free facility. Please see TRI's Visitor Directions document, to plan your transport to and from the venue. 

The TRI passenger drop off zone is located at the front of the TRI building, level 2 - see map in the TRI's Visitor Directions and level 2 Floor Plan documents. Directional signs will be displayed around the TRI building and PAH car park on the day, to show the way to the TRI auditorium.​

  • If you do decide to drive, be sure to view the TRI's parking information. Secure, undercover parking is also available at:
    Metro multi‐story car park located on city side of the PA Hospital, on the corner of Ipswich Road and O'Keefe Street. Walk to TRI via the pink or blue routes in the TRI's Visitor Directions document. 
  • UQ PACE secure car park, entrance via Kent Street beside the Dutton Park Railway Station. Walk to TRI via the green route in the TRI's Visitor Directions document.

If travelling by train, please note: Dutton Park train station is currently closed due to the Cross River Rail project.

Registration: 

The registration desk will be open from 8am, with the Symposium commencing at 9am. Once registered, delegates will receive a delegate lanyard, which will entitle them to catering and free barista coffee. 

For those who have registered as having dietary requirements, your needs will be catered for via individually packaged items. Please see The Hopkins Centre event crew at the registration desk to confirm. 

Accessibility:
The Hopkins Centre is committed to making this event accessible for all attendees. This event is being held in an accessible venue and will be live-captioned. You can view captions on the slide presentations shared on the main screen in the auditorium or via the captions link below on your internet-enabled device. Assistance animals are also most welcome at the venue and symposium.

Meet & Mingle Networking Event:
Following this year's Symposium, The Hopkins Centre will be hosting it's final Meet & Mingle Networking Event for the year. Meet & Mingle is a lively networking opportunity, which will be open to all symposium attendees including Hopkins Centre members, supporters, Ambassadors and collaborators. There will be canapes and beverages on offer. 

The Meet & Mingle Networking Event will be held immediately after BIBS23, from 5:00 - 6:00pm, in the atrium of the TRI.

Information for those attending online

Joining Instructions: 

Please follow this link to join the online Symposium, via Zoom. We suggest you join online 10 minutes early to get yourself set-up with any tech requirements that you may have. 

There is no password required to access the Zoom link, simply click the link on Thursday, to access the live stream from 9am-5pm. You will see the title of the live stream 'Bold Ideas Better Solutions 2023 Symposium' and know you are in the right place. 

Before the event commences and during each break, online attendees will be moved to the zoom event lobby, waiting for the host to start the live event stream.

To get the most out of this event, we recommend using a computer or laptop, not a phone or tablet.

Online attendees will able to ask questions via the Zoom chat function. Our session chairs and presenters will do their best to ensure all questions are answered live during the event. If questions are not able to be answered during the event, because of time reasons, the answers will be provided after the symposium and shared online.

Event recording and accessible resources: 
A recording of the online Symposium will be shared on our website, in the coming days. Copies of all presentations and Q&A responses will also be available online shortly after the event.
