Launch of ARC Discovery Project
An impressive gathering of 40 invited guests from government, industry and Griffith University, celebrated the launch of a new three-year ARC Discovery Project, Deciding Fair NDIS Rights, on 10th March at the Webb Centre, Southbank. Among the guests welcomed by PVC Indigenous, Professor Cindy Shannon, and addressed by Mr Kevin Cocks, AM DUni, Patron of the Hopkins Centre, were Scott McDougall, Commissioner, Queensland Human Rights Commission; Fran Vickery, Queensland State Director, NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission; Mary Burgess, Public Advocate Queensland; and Professor Emeritus Lesley Chenoweth AO. By investigating the logics and decisions about funded NDIS supports, the research team, led by Professor Michele Foster, A/Professor Kylie Burns and Professor Susan Harris Rimmer, hope that this project ensures the rights of people with disability are both recognised and realised as promised.
