Meet & Mingle Networking Event: Honing the Hopkins Research Agenda

Thank you to all our Members, partners and collaborators who joined us at our Meet & Mingle event this week, on June 11, 2024.

This was the first event for our newly appointed Centre Director, Tim Geraghty, who was pleased to be able to share with those in attendance the outcomes of our 2024 successful Seed Grant Funding. Congratulations to all the Seed Grant holders announced!

We also congratulated our Patron, Kevin Cocks AM GAICD, for his long-standing contributions and commitment to research, advocacy for human rights and to policy that upholds the dignity and inclusion of people with disability.

A very special, surprise announcement was also in order for our valued leader, Professor Elizabeth Kendall AM, in receiving a Kings Birthday Honour, earlier in the week. Congratulations, in being honoured with a Member of the Council for the Order of Australia (AM) for significant service and relentless efforts in advancing rehabilitation research, for unwavering dedication to transforming the lives of individuals with disabilities, and to tertiary education.

The program featured key topics of discussion in igniting research for the future in:

  • Home modifications & transitional housing,
  • Pain,
  • Mental Health and
  • Telehealth

We were especially thankful for all of the thoughts and ideas our members were generous in sharing with us, during the group discussion section of the program. These Bold Ideas, discussion pionts and feedback will be collated and used to inform and design our current and future Research Agenda, capacity building, translation events and collaborations, leading to Better Solutions for people with disabilities into the future!
