Research on the impact of paediatric traumatic brain injury on self-awareness

The publication addresses the issue of whether it is beneficial for children to develop self-awareness of their abilities after brain injury. In other words, does accurate self-awareness help them to adjust and develop greater independence in the home and at school or does this place them at risk of emotional distress and self-concept problems?

Gary Kerridge has been working in the disability sector for 30 years. He has spent 14 of those years as a National Disability Coordination Officer (NDCO). Recently, he was part of the NDCO leadership team that responded to the transition to online learning brought about by COVID-19 to provide support and information to disability practitioners around Australia. He is a co-author of the Australian Disability Clearinghouse on Education and Training (ADCET) guideline “Supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students Online”.
