Biggest Beanie Brunch for Brain Injury Awareness Week
As part of Brain Injury Awareness Week (BIAW2024), The Hopkins Centre was proud to support Ambassador, Belinda Adams OAM, at her Biggest Beanie Brunch! On August 25th, the Biggest Beanie Brisbane has ever seen was constructed in front of Brisbane's iconic Story Bridge.
The Beanie was be made up of the thousands of unique knitted and crocheted squares which have been quietly hand crafted by volunteers all over the world, reflecting the often invisible journey of Brain Injury survivors, on their road to recovery.
The Hopkins Centre director, Tim Geraghty, was at the event to share some words, as the beanie was constructed in front of the Story Bridge, signifying the importance of everyone's story.
This event will become part of a documentary to raise awareness for Brain Injury, showcasing of the power of what we can achieve when we all work together to shine a light on what is known as the "invisible disability".

This campaign was made possible by the hundreds of individuals who knitted or crocheted squares. We thank every single person for the time and heart that was sewn into every stitch. All squares will be recycled and donated to Wrap with Love Inc, providing love and warmth to someone in need at the completion of the campaign.
